I have this annoying habit of reading multiple books at a time. It takes much longer to finish a book once you’ve become distracted with another one. I don’t know how the cycle starts; maybe I’m a closet book hoarder. Sitting on my nightstand are The Book on the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are by Allan Watts, Beyond Belief: The Secret Lives of Women in Extreme Religions edited by Susan Tive and Cami Ostman, and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. Reviews are forthcoming but not anytime soon.

  1. I’ve the same problem starting numerous books. I like to think that it is because I do not know what I want to read until I really start into it. Like sampling wine before you decide to buy the bottle.

    1. What’s your strategy for reading multiple books at a time? Do you alternate between them or do you set one aside for awhile as you finish the one you like most?

      1. I end up choosing the book that feels like should be read. It could be the mood I’m in, or it could relate to a worldly event going on. Whichever other book doesn’t make the cut is the book I put next in the queue, otherwise I feel guilty, as though my books are my children and I can’t pick favorites or neglect them 🙂
